A Near Mint Antique English Export, Thomas & Townsend Compton Deep Dish - SOLD

This very fine condition Export Pewter Deep Dish was made by Thomas & Townsend Compton, London 1802-14. The metal is of the highest quality as is the workmanship. Note the fine hammered bouge.

The surface shows little if any wear. To find a 10 1/4" deep dish in this condition is the exception rather than the rule. Most examples show a good deal of wear.

The Townsend Group had a very substantial share of the export market both during the Colonial Period and early Federal Period.
