A Townsend & Compton Export Pewter Plate with Owner's Initials

An Export single reed rim Export pewter plate by Townsend & Compton, London 1784-1802. This plate measures 7 11/16”. This plate has owner’s initials and a date of 1858 on the bottom of the plate. Interestingly, this plate was undoubtedly owned by the same family as a Love plate we recently had. The Love plate had the initials and date “BP BP 1858”. (see photo)

This would cause one to conclude that families had mixed American and English pieces in the inventories.

This plate is in near fine condition the bouge is beautifully hammered and the touches are mint “as struck”.
