An English Export Spire Flagon by Henry Joseph - SOLD
Henry Joseph worked in London from 1736 until 1784, during this time his shop produced a wide variety of pewter including plates dishes and basins, teapots of various sizes and designs some with and without feet, creamers, sauce boats, sugar bowls, and casters. Other forms are found as well including impressive spire flagons like this 13” tall example.
Much of Joseph’s production was for export and this flagon is just one example. The flagon is marked with
two lion passant touches flanking an HI touch. The metal is in very good plus condition. Note the impressive finial atop the lid giving the flagon an additional stately bearing. A very tall impressive form certainly would be an outstanding centerpiece of any collection of English Export Pewter.
