This bayonet scabbard was made under contract for the United States Army by Young of Newark, N. J.
The body is made of bridle leather and the frog is of buff leather. The body is tightly stitched at the seam. The frog is fastened to the body via copper rivets and a row of stitching.
The maker's name and inspector's mark are stamped on the buff frog. They are difficult to see due to the irregular surface of the buff leather.
The scabbard body has crazing on the leather surface, all seams are tight and the tip and frog are solidly attached. The body is strong and free of any breaks.
The scabbard measures 21" overall the body is 19 1/2" from the tip to the throat.
