A Near Mint 5 15/16" Pewter Plate by Love - SOLD

A near mint 5 15/16” single reed rim plate by “Love”. The “Love” touches were used over a long period of time beginning in the mid 18th century and continuing into the early 19th.

This plate would certainly date from the 1790’s to the first quarter of the 19th century. With the single strike of the “Love” without the crowned X or Serrated London mark it is possible this is the product of one of the Palethorps of Philadelphia.

Whomever made this it is in nearly mint condition with a single scratch on the face surface. The lathe marks show quite clearly. The touch is mint “as struck”. A very nice example. (ON HOLD)
