A 12 3/16" Pewter Plate by Jacob Whitmore

A 12 3/16

A 12 3/16” platter by Jacob Whitmore of Middletown, Connecticut 1757-1790. Whitmore worked in the same shop as the Danforth Family in fact he jointly owned a number of molds with Thomas Danforth II.

There are examples from this same mold by Thomas Danforth II, John Danforth, and Joseph Danforth

This dish still shows a good deal of lathe marks both on the front and the back. The touches are well impressed unlike much of Whitmore’s product.

This is an uncommon size to encounter and the majority of Whitmore’s flatware consists of 7 7/8” plates.

Price: $565
