A Quart Squat Pewter Mug by Timothy Boardman & Co

This very squat Boardman mug is an uncommon form. I and others feel that the body was cast in the same molds as many Boston tankards. After pewterers retired or were deceased their molds and equipment were disposed of. It is quite possible the tankard body mold ended up in Hartford.

The dimensions for this mug are 5” tall to top of lip, Top diameter 4” and bottom diameter 4 7/16”. The mug is struck with the touchmark of Timothy Boardman & Co, New York working 1822-25. Although marked N-York as is the case with all other pieces by the Boardmans it was most likely produced in Hartford.

This mug is in very good plus condition with fine as struck touches. A form not often encountered.
