A Fine Pair of Antique American Gleason Pewter Whale Oil Lamps - SOLD
This pair of pewter whale oil lamps were made by Roswell Gleason of Dorchester MA working from 1822-1871. These lamps would date 1822-1850's after the 1850's the whale oil industry gave way to petroleum products like kerosene.
The lamps measure 7 7/8" tall to the tops of the burners. The design is simple yet pleasing to the eye. They are of fine quality metal and are are very sturdy in their construction.
Gleason produced a wide variety of forms of lighting as well as tea and coffee pots and communion wares.
